This was our first maternity shoot as a team and we were lucky to be shooting such a laid back, easy going couple! We had a total blast shooting their photos that day and cannot wait to come back to meet Baby Whitney and take some newborn photos (who has since been born)!
We came down to Baltimore that weekend to attend John and Julie’s baby shower. We stayed at their house the entire weekend, which also happened to be one of the shoot’s locations. During some of our downtime that weekend (the actual shower was at John’s parents), I practiced some of my portraiture work on their lovely dog Indy with my recently reactivated 1D Mkii- thanks to a new battery from Amazon.

We shot (yes, Jules and I) at two different locations: their house and a nearby park. One of the things I’m really looking forward to is recreating the shots in the home with the little one in a couple of months. We did specific poses so that would be possible (and ideally frame them side by side in the future). We really love how they came out.

*I had basically no time due to my stuff with Dreamforce and I didn’t want to offend our many friends in MD when they found out we were there for a weekend and didn’t say hi. So, we showed up for the weekend and left, keeping our social media footprints as small as possible. I edited them when I had brief moments to do so while Jules edited them in one straight batch. There was no “preview” post as we simply didn’t have the time to do so.
