Well, I’m not the only one. In a number of ways.

So while I was signing up for Fireside Chat on the General Assembly’s Eventbrite page, I took a look at the other events they had coming up. One of them caught my eye- Intro to the Startup Community at their (new) HQ in San Francisco. It was free and sounded very cool so I decided to attend.
It was a very good decision. The SF chapter of General Assembly has been in San Francisco as long as Jules and I have (since the summer) so they are working on generating awareness. Their working space in San Francisco is very modern- lots of open spaces, contrasting paints, and large vinyl decals. I ended up joining a group of 30+ people and most of them were new to the Bay Area.
How new? Well, in a group of people I met, I was the person in the city the longest outside of the General Assembly group themselves. So I found myself already in the position of recommending places to live, eat, and visit.
The presentation by Ahmed was pretty awesome. He is a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes, so it was very easy for me to pay attention. It was also great to see some of the other areas of funding/startup generation in the Bay Area. While I’m not a technical person, I hope I can find a fit at one of those events. The evening was a great time and I can’t wait for my next General Assembly event!
