Last night, I showed up a little early to a building (The Hattery) where an event was being held. After waiting for a couple of minutes, I tried to buzz myself in. Then, a car pulled up behind me…

I didn’t realize it at the time, but Bo Fishback and the Zaarly crew were right behind me as I was walking in. It was awesome timing and I ended up chatting with them before others started showing up.
This event was a true “fireside” chat- complete with a small grill and fire colored light! Abby from General Assembly SF (who was hosting the chat) moderated the event which ended up being a very cool question and answer session.
The CEO of Zaarly, Bo Fishback, is a 6’ 5”+ guy who punctuates his rapid fire thoughts with quotes from other very smart people. It’s abundantly easy to see his passion for what he does and potential for Zaarly to change “hyperlocal” commerce. I live tweeted some of the better quotes I could quickly bang out on the phone.

The conference room in the Hattery (awesome workspace by the way) was perfect for this low-key chat. We could have been in a bar with some brews and nothing would have felt out-of-place. It’s not often you get to talk with a CEO of a startup that candidly without PR handlers screening questions (at least for me). It was refreshing to see how CEO’s really think in the startup space.
