Have you ever purchased a Google offer and not research where the place was? I have and this is what happened next.

A couple of months ago, a Google offer popped up on my email one afternoon for a place called Bob’s Donuts in Downtown San Francisco. At this point in time, we were still in Annapolis so it seemed like a great deal to get to explore and try new things. We decided to test out the Caltrain and head into the city that way.

That’s when things got interesting. In walking through some….interesting parts of the city to a place we knew nothing about, both Jules and I were beginning to have second thoughts on if this was a good idea to travel on foot. However, after a couple miles walk through some places I thought I might be mugged in broad daylight, we found the small shop nestled between others.

Bob’s donuts turned out to be quite a legendary place in SF history. A 24 hour donut shop that has been around for decades has some of the busiest traffic between the hours of 10pm-2am. Those hours are when the fresh doughnuts come out of the fryer and based on my experience with Krispy Kreme– fresh and hot make all the difference. While ours weren’t hot, they were still amazingly delicious.

They also have a eating challenge there (ala Man Vs Food). Finish one of their massive donuts in 3 minutes and you get a free t-shirt. It’s a BIG doughnut, but it seems doable.

After we picked up our dozen donuts, we wandered to the fisherman’s wharf area for dinner. While the walk’s to Bob’s was a little crazy, the donuts there live up the legend that I had no idea existed.
