As you may know, I’m a sucker for a good story.

Maybe it’s the innate marketer inside me, but storytelling is just so much fun. What was great about my recent shoot with my former college roommate Steve and his (now) fiancé Melissa is the great story around their engagement.

Steve and Melissa have been dating for a couple of years. They are both triathletes and are fans of the Black Ankle Winery in Mount Airy, MD. So much so, they ended up getting to know the people who run the place so Steve could pull off a very romantic proposal.

After throwing off Melissa’s scent with a long morning, they showed up to Black Ankle Winery. Steve pulled Melissa into a row of wine barrels and got down on one knee and proposed. (She obviously said yes)

I tried to showcase their unique style while paying homage to the very cool story surrounding the engagement. Check out the Facebook album for all the photos in the set!
